Sailing writing

This is Richard Shrubb’s sailing writing page.

Here’s an admission: currently I do more sailing writing than I do sailing. As an elite sailing fanatic I’m as much an expert in sailing as the Pompey supporter at the Fratton End on a Saturday afternoon.  After the dust settles in Catalunya, I’ll be bringing a Drascombe Lugger back to the UK to teach my daughter to sail on Lyme Bay.

I have a lot of sailing experience, with several thousand miles on tall ships and yachts in my RYA logbook. In addition I am an adept dinghy sailor and love to get afloat on just about anything that floats whenever I can!

A potted sailing CV includes sailing the US Great Lakes and NE Seaboard on the 186ft SSV Rose, crossing the Caribbean on the SY Sea Cloud, as well as a number of deliveries around the UK and across the English Channel. I’ve sailed on the Med too, aboard several friends’ yachts around the Costa Brava. In addition, I have sailed dinghies of various types as well as canoed and surf canoed in places as diverse as the Falklands, West Wales and the Shenandoah River…

Here is a potted portfolio of Richard’s sailing writing and journalism to date:
