Sailing Writing

This is Richard Shrubb's sailing writing page.

Richard has a lot of sailing experience, with over 8,000 miles on tall ships and yachts in his RYA logbook. In addition he is an adept dinghy sailor and loves to get afloat on just about anything that floats whenever he can!

A potted sailing CV includes sailing the US Great Lakes and NE Seaboard on the 186ft SSV Rose, crossing the Caribbean on the SY Sea Cloud, as well as a number of deliveries around the UK and across the English Channel. In addition, he has sailed dinghies of various types as well as canoed and surf canoed in places as diverse as the Falklands, West Wales and the Shenandoah River...

Here is a potted portfolio of Richard's sailing writing and journalism to date:

Richard wrote the copy on all the catamarans available in the Nacra range on this website, from the 460 Fun to the elite Nacra 20, ahead of the 2017 Dinghy Show in February 2017. Visit the website here

Kavas Yachting

Richard has helped with the English website of Kavas Yachting based in Greece. He  has helped develop a guide to sailing their charter yachts on Greek waters. This is aimed at people who may have last been afloat last summer who need their memory jogged - perhaps about the process of tacking or gybing their boat and what to tell their crew. It also deals with emergency situations at sea from holing their boat to First Aid. He also writes blogs for the site from time to time, including this blog on how to buy a secondhand boat.
